This summer, I'll be bringing TJ's Paint Parties & Creative Events to Mount Lemmon Lodge for a series of beginner-friendly Paint & Sip experiences in the beautiful pine forests of Mount Lemmon.
When Mount Lemmon Lodge reached out about hosting a summer paint series, I had to stop and read the email twice ... and then read it again. Ha!
It felt like one of those moments where you realize you've outgrown the version of yourself that still thinks small. Not because you've arrived, but because you're finally allowing yourself to see what's possible.
Hosting paint parties in the pines on Mount Lemmon was exactly the kind of thing I would have put on a vision board years ago, but I never imagined it would happen quite like this.
There was a time in my life when I didn't understand what it meant to have dreams. There were things I wished for, places I wanted to go, experiences I hoped to have—but they felt like they belonged to other people.
And now I get to combine art, community, beautiful destinations, and meaningful experiences in places like Mount Lemmon Lodge. This life is pretty exciting.
And when I say "this life," I'm talking about the second chance I've been given through recovery. The opportunity to build something meaningful, to follow creative ideas, to meet incredible people, and to say yes when opportunities like this show up.
That's really what TJ's Paint Parties has always been about: creating opportunities for people to connect, slow down, laugh, create, and make memories together.
And this summer, we get to do it on a mountain.
Whether you're looking for a creative date idea, a friends' outing, a family adventure, a solo escape, or simply a reason to get out of the Tucson heat for a few hours, these events are designed to be welcoming, beginner-friendly, and fun.
No experience is necessary. I'll guide you step-by-step, and all supplies are included.
June 6 • Into the Forest
Step onto a peaceful woodland path surrounded by towering pines and soft forest light. Inspired by the beauty of Mount Lemmon itself, this painting is perfect for nature lovers and anyone who enjoys a little tranquility.
June 13 • Desert Doorway
A vibrant turquoise doorway framed by desert blooms and Southwestern charm. This colorful Arizona-inspired painting celebrates hidden beauty, possibility, and the unique character of the Southwest.
June 27 • Starry Night Guitar
A creative blend of music and art featuring an acoustic guitar beneath a swirling star-filled sky. This painting is playful, expressive, and perfect for music lovers.
July 5 • Hats Off! Custom Hat Painting Experience
For this special event, we'll trade canvases for wearable art. Design and paint your own custom hat using colors, patterns, and personal touches that reflect your style. No two hats will be the same, and you'll leave with a one-of-a-kind creation you can actually wear.
July 11 • Summer Swing
A dreamy moonlit swing overlooking the water, surrounded by glowing reflections and summer-night magic. Relaxing, whimsical, and one of my personal favorites in the lineup.
July 18 • Let's Go Camping
A cozy campsite beneath a starry sky, complete with string lights and a glowing tent. This painting captures everything we love about summer adventures in the mountains.
July 25 • Sunset Lake
A peaceful lakeside dock framed by blooming branches and reflected sunset colors. This painting is all about slowing down and soaking in the beauty of the moment.
August 15 • Backcountry Bear
Inspired by mountain wildlife and rugged landscapes, this bold painting features a majestic bear standing beneath a glowing sky. A perfect choice for outdoor enthusiasts and animal lovers.
August 22 • Dragonfly
We'll close out the season with a vibrant dragonfly soaring above the water. Dragonflies often symbolize transformation, growth, adaptability, and embracing change—making it a fitting way to wrap up an unforgettable summer.
